This is a woman wearing the Heian-jidai style of kimono, "junihitoe." The color scheme is "murasaki murago" AKA "variegated purple." You can view an image of this color scheme here- http://img292.imageshack.us/my.php?image=murasakimuragosb1.png

Technically, the color of her nagabakama (formal hakama [traditional pleated split skirt] is contradicting her hair- only married women wore bright red nagabakama, and a married would wear the hair framing her face in a different cut (so I've heard, anyway.) Well, whatever. ^^;
